Inicialmente empleado en Iquique, en 1913 se une a la Compañía Salitrera Alemana de Taltal como "fichero" en la oficina salitrera Chile, gestionando los vales de los trabajadores. Ueberrhein no era un fotógrafo profesional, sino un aficionado, sin embargo, registra magistralmente las actividades de exploración y prospección de yacimientos minerales en la zona meridional del desierto de Atacama a la par de desempeñarse como empleado de la Compañía Salitrera Alemana entre los años de 1913 a 1927. La colección consta de 38 fotografías de un total de 130 imágenes del archivo, que forman parte del acervo documental del museo Augusto Capdeville de la ciudad de Taltal.
